Prospective Student/Athlete Letter

Dear Student/Athlete,

We are very excited you have looked into Western Ct. State University for the possibility of continuing your academic and athletic endeavors. Let me now tell you a little of what we are all about.
Western Ct. is situated in Fairfield County, less than 1 hour from New York City. We have 2 campuses, our Midtown and Westside facilities. Our Midtown campus has 3 dormitories, 5 academic buildings, the Student Center, and Library. It also is home to Registrars, Admissions, Financial Aid, and all other University related offices. The Westisde campus has 3 apartment style dormitories, the Ancell School of Business and Education, along with Justice and Law. It also is home to the new Westside Student Center due to open for the spring of "07" semester. All the Athletic facilities are on the Westside campus.
Academically, incoming freshmen should look to have scored 1050 or better (verbal/math) on the SAT, be in the top 50% of their graduating class, and be achieving a 2.6 or better GPA in basic college preparatory classes. This should include 4 years of English, 3 years Math (Alg. I, Geom., Alg.II),and 2 to 3 years of a foreign language. There are also alternative summer programs for admission if you fall short of the minimum requirements.
We play in one of the nation's top Division III conferences, The Little East. Our Schedule consisits of a full fall and spring schedule, with the NCAA maximum 40 games in the spring. This includes a 10 day Florida trip for 13 games in mid March. The winner of our conference tournament gets an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament, which we achieved in 2002. We have a fully lighted field with a natural grass surface, bull pens and a batting cage. Our indoor facilities include The William A. O'Neill Center, Berkshire Gym, The Old National Guard Armory, and an artificial grass surfaced football stadium for early season work outs.
If all we have to offer seems like something you would be interested in looking into, lets start the recruiting process. Please click on the page for the recruiting questionnaire. Print and fill out, and return it to us with a cover letter and any other information you feel neccessary to send. Any film you have on yourself competing or working out is also welcome. Once we receive the questionnaire back, we will be in contact with you by email to set up a recruiting visit. Once again, thank you for your interest in us, and best of luck with your college search.

Sincerely,
John Susi
Head Coach
